Class time: M 1:00 to 3:30 in Gartley 217 (classroom) and SSB 635  (computer lab).

Course Description:

Psychology of Rage in Public Places--Driving

Focusing on the psychology of rage in public places, with special attention to driving. Students publish their reports on the Web, give oral presentations in class, and participate in online discussions. Uses a cumulative point system instead of a final exam, and opportunities are given for correcting one’s reports. Includes computer lab where students are given help in Web publishing. This is a WI course and requires more writing than the average class.

Textbook:

Leon James and Diane Nahl (2000), Road Rage and Aggressive Driving (Prometheus Books: Amherst, NY).

Computer Lab:

A = 85 points...... B = 84 - 70...... C = 69 - 60...... D = 50 - 59...... F = 49

C=Average grade (meeting minimum requirements)
B=Doing everything required on time plus going beyond the minimum required
A=Meeting the requirements for a B and in addition, being inventive in a useful way that furthers the topic

Absence Penalty:  -3 points/per class absent (also: 3 lates = 1 absence).

Late Work Penalty:  -1 points/per day late unless you email Dr. James (leon@hawaii.edu) briefly explaining the delay and giving the date you will be completing the late work. You must then email Dr. James when you upload your late work.
