5) The body of the report should contain these three main sections:

6) The first section on "Theory and Purpose of the Project" should cover these points:

        a) Summarize the highlights or main points of your annotated bibliography (report 1) and give a link to your report 1 inviting the reader to check it out before reading further.

        b) After the above summary, discuss these implications:

  1. What does the content of your bibliography in Report 1 imply about the nature of our society in terms of socialization practices, interpersonal relations, stress, and conflict?

  2. How are we to explain what's happening in our society with the emotional spin cycle? Why is it happening?

  3. What are we to expect for the future of society? Are things going to get better or worse for your children's generation?

  4. What should be done about it now?

To properly develop these issues be sure to consult and use the following sources:

(1) the Web

(2) the textbook for your course

(3) your class notes and discussions

(4) the theory and diagrams described in the general instructions

(5) the instructor's lecture notes on emotions: Seeing Red, Feeling Blue (the link address is http://www.aloha.net/~dyc/articles/red-blue.htm ) and the results of the Rage-Depression Survey (the link address is http://www.aloha.net/~dyc/surveys/rage_depression.htm )

7) The second section on "Data Collection and Analysis" should deal with the following sub-sections (be sure to choose suitable titles and sub-titles in your own words to organize your presentation; the sub-titles should always contain content):

  1. Describe the Threefold Self in your own words. Did you think about yourself in this way before? Why is this useful? Does it fit what you know about yourself and others? Does it fit what you know about Psychology?

  2. In your own words describe the design you used to collect the data. Explain the logic behind the baseline-intervention approach. Describe the bridge technique in your own words. Were you familiar with this technique before? Do you use this technique in your life?

  3. Describe the Daily Emotional Spin Cycle in your own words. Why is the word "spin" used? Why the word "cycle" used? How is it related to "personality"? How is it related to "habits"? What kind of gender differences in the spin cycle are there in your view?

  4. Describe the rating scales you were given to use and what they really measure in your view. What are these ratings useful for? What do they show? What other scales could you have used?

  5. About the Records Sheets:

    1. Describe the record keeping you did, how accurate they are, and any problems or concerns that need to be mentioned.
What record sheets did you use?

    2. Give one or two illustrations of the data you collected on the records sheet (insert this in your report 2).

    3. Put all your record sheets into a separate file called   records.html   and link to it, inviting the reader to inspect them before continuing to read. Be sure you place a link back to your report 2 so people can get back there after inspecting your records file.

    4. Be sure you upload your    records.html   file along with your   report2.html    file.

  6. About the Bridge Technique:

  6. What are the origins of these weaknesses, strengths, and resistances?

  7. How would you teach this technique to a friend or family member?

  8. Who would be successful at it and who would not?

  9. What prevents people from using this technique to reach happiness and perfection?

  10. What limitations does it have?

8) The third section on "Interpretation and Discussion" should cover these topics:

  1. Give a brief summary of the overall pattern of results you obtained. Provide psychological explanations of the forces at play in those situations in so far as you can identify them from your data. You can also bring in explanatory concepts from your other courses or textbooks. Be sure to reference all your sources.

  2. What have you learned about your threefold self by doing this project? Discuss all three behavioral domains of the threefold self--affective, cognitive, and sensorimotor

  3. How did the four options diagram and vocabulary lists in the general instructions help you understand yourself better? Is this something you can use forever?
