HINT: Be sure to answer every item and every question in these instructions-- for a top notch report!! After finishing your complete draft (i.e., a few days prior to April 8), go over it with these instructions and see if you've dealt sufficiently with each item or question. Please don't skip this last step!!

HINT: Read these instructions carefully and thoughtfully over several times before you start!! Try to imagine each part ahead of time.

1) Title:

My Report 2

Managing a Quality Driving Circle:

xxxx

Note: Wherever you see xxx in titles, it stands for the sub-title, which you are to make up after you completed your first draft. Make the sub-title reflect your unique vision on the topic.

2) Introduction: xxx

After you finish your first draft, add an introduction here to lead off your report. Tell readers what they're going to find in your report 2 and talk about yourself a little in relation to managing a QDC: what did you expect would happen before you started the group; what was your initial reaction when you started going; what is your current attitude towards it.

3) Traffic Psychology Through the Generations: xxx

(a) From the Generations Page go to and select two students from G1, G2, G3, G3a, and G4 -- 10 in all. Read their sites and reports. Use copy/paste and links plus your reactions, to process the content. It's more important to deal with specific ideas or concepts than to cover the whole thing in a general way. Answer these:

(b) In each case what was the student's focus -- what where they each concerned about in relation to traffic psychology concepts or activities?

(c) Note the parts that you feel apply to you -- to your driving or driving personality makeover needs.

(d) Select three specific items or ideas or areas to work on for your QDC group. Look at Dr. Driving's Chart of Nine Zones and their explanations in

http://www.aloha.net/~dyc/ch6.html

Make up a paper-and-pencil driving personality test for each of the three areas you picked to work on. You can use the items already there, modify them for your purpose, make new ones of your own or from some other experts, or a combination of these. Bring the test to class and lets all have a chance to critique it. It might be enough to use about 6 items for each area (or 18-20 items in all). Be sure you link the test items to where they came from Dr. Driving's chapter 6 or some other experts.

(e) How do these items relate to the principles you discussed in your report1? Make the connection (use tagged links to allow readers to go back to your report 1 sections).

4) Setting up and Running My Quality Driving Circle: xxx

Gather your group (between 3 to 6 drivers) and meet with them for a minimum of three sessions of about one hour. Try to examine their attitude toward driving as you start and build from there. Try to engage them in discussions about the three traffic psychology principles or areas you chose in (3d) above. Give them homework to do for their next driving trip and ride along if you can, making observations.

(a) How did you get the group together and who were the participants? No need for names but their demography and relation to you.

(b) Describe how each did on your driving personally test.

(c) Summarize each of your sessions with the group: your purpose; your plan; your problems; your solutions.

(d) What role did the test play?

(e) What suggestions do you have for spreading QDCs throughout our society? Who would be leaders? How would it work? When should people start? What about chronic offenders?

(f) What advice do you have for G6 and beyond who are going to do this report 2?

5) Driving Improvement Resources on the Web: xxx

Select 10 links of sites relating to helping drivers as your favorites. Give a brief explanation why you chose each.
