Course Description: WI/Psych 409b

Cyber-Psychology--- Principles of Design

Seminar on what Internet design features respond to psychological principles of how users explore the world of information. Topics include creating indexes and search engines that are responsive to the way users behave in cyberspace. Weekly written assignments are typed and posted on the World Wide Web using campus computers or dial-in modems. Oral presentations by students and class discussions on Internet issues. Aimed and organized for computer novices since most students are unfamiliar with the Internet and UNIX operations.

Grades: Point system as follows:

published on WWW Home Page 70 points

Oral presentations & class participation: 30 points

A=85 points; B=84-70; C=69-60; D=50-50; F=49

Absence penalty=-5 per class; Late work penalty=-3 per day late.

Textbook: All required reading will be on the Internet. Several required booklets for Internet literacy will be in the Bookstore.
