Teamreport Week2
This week I used Webcrawler to access
information on "commercial
internet
branches". I got quite a list..since I never get to shop nowadays (too
much studying) I thought it might be interesting to check out what the
"Mega Internet Shopping
List" has to offer. It first gave me a whole
directory of Internet Malls. Since I always like to read things in german
I selected "Marketplace", a
bilingual german-english site.
The marketplace offers business
opportunities, such as helping you
advertise your business if you want to sell it. I thought that is a great
opportunity. Your offer will be exposed to such a variety of
webusers. From the german
homepage I found a link to specific instruction
on how the advertising is
done, and what these web consultants
charge for their services. The first thing they will suggest is to
create a homepage for the client. A one time fee of $100.-
will be charged for the homepage. To maintain it a monthly fee of $50.-
will be added. Not bad..Lori, how would you like that?
The consulting firm advices the german user to open his/her account on an
american server, since the german telekom (communications firm) tends to
overprice these relatively new communication services. I thought that was
quite nice. I
should tell my dad..Well, I think this report speaks for itself. I
started out with the intention to find what the net offers in its Malls.
However, I got sidetracked. In many departements I have heard faculty
complain that students' grades are suffering because of their addictive
behavior towards the net. I can relate to that. We are bombarded with
such a variety of information that I, too, find it difficult to tremain
focused.
