First I went into "Net Directory" and found several articles and table of contents. I clicked on "Net Search"and typed in "parenting" as specified topic into "Search Engine." And there came up many files that were related to the parenting and family. I printed out a specific file about parenting a child with attention deficit disorder. I continued to find other files and found several files focusing on family problems and ways to overcome those problems. I thought family focus on internet seems very useful and helpful in a sense that it helps the family with problems to realize that they are accessible to help. It was also related to soc. psy in a sense that it informs and emphasizes the importance of family and that there are many effective intervention to support family with problem with psychological help. It was supporting the specific group, the family with various problem in affective way. The emphasis on behavior modification program would help the family to realize that the situation can be improved.
Family focus is our group topic, and parenting and children is one of the categories to choose from. Under this categories, I focused on children. I found information about child apprehension which gives you a list of questions parents may have, such as what is child apprehension mean, what happens to my children, and can I see my children. The content of this information is very interesting and educating because it is useful to social psychology. It helps me to know and understand the children better, and it helps the parents to know their children more. How did I find the information? I found it using directory button, internet search, and info search. The tone or style appeared to be in order and endless set of information to look for. My first time on the Netscape was an overwhelming experience. As I clicked onto Net Search and typed in shopping in the query box an endless amount of articles appeared in front of me. I didn't know where to begin so I skimmed over serveral article headings. I noticed that many of the articles contained items or publications for magazines to subscribe to. After a while I became bored with what I read and returned back to Netscape Homepage and explored the sub-tasks in my week one report. I think that this program that offered shopping over the Internet was something that could possibly become popular among Net users. It is conveinent and easy to do. I noticed that all you need is access to Netscape and your credit card. You can practically buy your wardrobe over the computer. This type of easy access can be convienent but is it really practicle? I feel people would waste their time and money browsing and buying anything that was appealing. It could be another "info-commercial" that tend to become addicting.
