YoonWhan Cho's Group Report

Family Focus on Internet

Week 4 Report by Group6

I went into the MetaCrawler and typed in the topic, parenting. And I got collated results of 97 references. I looked them all and picked a site for this week's report. It was called "The National Parenting Center." The National Parenting Center is an information service. They give advice from pregnancy through adolescence for parents. I found that the information they cover was about various aspects of parenting, and it might be helpful to get a general idea about the various aspects of parenting and family problems. The tone of information was kind of straight forward. I wanted to look for more practical information. And I found another site called "Positive Parenting Homepage." It says that positive parenting is dedicated to providing practical parenting tools that model mutual respect, enhance your child's self-esteem, and bring long term change to family in conflict. I thought the tone of information was very informational and much more open. It was easy to access many information and very helpful. I thought it was helpful with social psychology in a sense that it gives access to advice to various family programs in a practical way. First, I went to net directory to find something new about health. When I click on health which is under Yahoo, it gives me a list of different subtopics. Under this subtopics, I went click on education and then it gives you another subcategories. Then, I went to adolescence directory on-line. The information that I've got from education under subtopic of center for adolescent studies is a teaching seminar with groups. The information here is about teaching the groups how to utilize other skills in helping children. One of the main focus of the teaching with group is an " interactive multimedia primer on group process skills for preservice and inservice teachers". There are also conceptual basis for this program such as using contextual modeling of classroom situations and multiple perspective (for example, teacher verbalization of their thoughts and reflections).
