For this week, I decided to use one of the finest search engines called "WebCrawler Searching." I typed in my topic, "parenting" and received a very very long document. I was getting tired of looking at a long list of sites, so I just got into a site ca lled "Family World Home Page." Please click HERE!!! In introduction part, they said that their goal is to provide an informative place for family to gather from around the world. I went through the list and thought it would be fun to check out FAQ. So I clicked on it. And I found out that all the information was available by many volunteers who are parents. I looked at the table of contents, and there were four parts like pregnancy, infancy, general parenting, and writers information. I tried a ll four parts and felt that the information did not cover broad area but it was well-focused. Especially, I liked general parenting part. Among the list on general parenting I found an interesting topic called "traveling." It provides important tips to secure child during traveling. The most fascinating thing about this was that each tips had the writer's own experiences and examples. I thought the information was valuable and informative because many volunteers, who are parents, write and supply practial information available to Internet community. Each topics and sites were maintained by voluteers. I could see that in social psychology virtual community can help in various ways for specific interst group, in this case parents.
This week on the Metacrawler I searched for my topic on marriage and it listed several searches it found through the different search engines located in the Internet. I scrolled down looking at the different items available and noticed that many of the links were Religious Retreats to help married couples. Since I had enough of this in Net Search I wanted to go into something different that I haven't seen before. I saw an interesting link to Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice novel.
This link led to a whole table of content that gave many options to choose from. I could go and read the book, look at pictures, or read a brief description of each major characters. Since my topic was marriage I was wondering how this novel related to my subject and I discovered that the story deals with relationships of all types and how the issue of marriage is protrayed in the story line. There is also and review of how marriage was viewed during this time era. After reading this very long article I moved on and saw a game called Married! the Game of Marriage. This was an advertisment for their product which was not that great. Next I went into a poem called Marry the Sea by Sullivan. This amazingly lead to a homepage that had lyrics to other songs, however, it was still under construction. One interesting link I found was one that lead to Joe's Amazing Relationship Problem SolverWanna
