FIRST FEELING

It took me about about five minutes to get in the Netscape. I was anxious and nervous from the start because it was my first time to get on the World Wide Web. I was actually afraid of it . I was worried so much about what if it doesn't work.

BUTTONS AND FIRST FOSSILIZED ERROR

I didn't know anything about it so I just clicked on "Home." When I saw the sign saying "Welcome to Netscape," I felt little relaxed. I looked for buttons like "What's New?," "What's cool?," "Net Directory,"and "Net Search." And I felt panic because there was no way I could figure out how to start with buttons. I began to worry about things that I was supposed to do. I guess that was one of my fossilized error that I always try to take one step further and get panic wondering how I get there. I should've taken step by step without worrying ahead. At that point I began to interpret the figure of buttons as they were initiating the surfing in the net because whenever I click them I was able to continue to move on. However, I continued to click on any buttons since I didn't know how to continue. I was little frustrated at that time because I wasn't really sure if I was on the right track. I was just keeping moving but didn't seem to get into deep inside. I felt lost in the Net. I felt like I was loosing the interest for a short time and got scared because I was worried what if I develop a phobia. That was the time when I found myself in another fossilized error that I always get too serious about little mistakes and hinder with process. I guess I should always accept any mistakes as a part of getting to know the Internet and be more generous about them.

Buttons like "what's new?," "what's cool?," and "Internet Directory" took me to various interesting sites where I actually picked up many informations. They made me feel that I could do some more works with the Net. I felt I was actually surfing in the Net. I felt little bit confident than the beginning.

SECOND DAY

On the second day, I felt much more relaxed than the first day. But I still had to work on so many things and felt burdened. However, I began to click on words hoping that they are buttons. I clicked on words that were not highlighted and it didn't work. I made sure that only the highlighted words work as buttons.

I found "Home" button and "back" button to be very useful. Whenever I get bored I didn't have to deal with them I could just press "Home" button. And if I made any mistake I could press "Back" to trace back to where I was. I wondered How it took me so long to figure out the usefulness of those two buttons.

For my group topic, I had to get in to the "Net Search." I clicked on the button and waited with excitement. In "InfoSeek search engine" I typed in my topic, parenting. Finally, I found something that was related to my topic. I was little puzzled when I had to print out but it worked almost same as word processor. I clicked on "Net Directory" for the first time. I saw many interesting sites like "Art," "Computer and Internet," and "Social Science." I clicked on "Social Science" and saw the word "Yahoo" which Dr. James mentioned in the class. Just thinking about the fact that Dr. James mentioned the word was making me comfortable and clicked on "Psychology." I found several useful journal lists.

FIRST AFTERTHOUGHT

I noted my progression in my acquisition, especially with using the buttons knowing how they work. I had made this fossilized error of assuming how each button work. But on my third day I could enjoy some buttons knowing how they work. I thought the more time you spend on buttons the better you get to know how they work and where they can take you.
