Searching Engine Week 13:
Planet Earth and The McKinley
Planet Earth's homepage looked very simple. It was not clutter with
words, pictures, or icons that led you to other places. It also
contained a list of other search engines and spiders. I typed in the
word beach and I got a total of 17 documents. Not all of the documents
contained the word beach in it. I clicked onto Beaches and Outdoor and
all it gave me was 403 Forbidden. So I tried another link and it gave me
the same think too. Well I started to get fed up because obviously this
search engine sucks! By looking at the home page I should have known
that this was not a very good search engine.
In The McKinely Directory I was a little more successful. When I typed
the word beach I got back a total of 33 documents. Some of the documents
did not contain the word beach in it too, but atleast the links worked.
The best thing that I liked about this search engine was that it contained
stars on the sides to indicate if it is good or bad. The search engine
also contained a summary of the document.
The first document that caught my eye was Nude
Beaches FAQ.
This caught my attention because Hawaii was listed as one of the places
with nude beaches. I clicked on to this just to see if they would
mention Small Beach on Maui. I couldn't believe it, it was there the
only difference is that they called it Lori's Team
