Searching Engine Week 14:
HO! HO! HO!
Hello everyone, this week I decided to use
MetaCrawler
and Lycos Search Engine.I found
these two search engines in my week 14
team report. I
wanted to get into the Christmas spirit so the word that I choose to use
for this report was Santa Clause. Is there really a Santa Clause? Well
I guess we'll find out over the Internet.
I typed in Santa Clause on MeteCrawler and it gave me a total of 61
references returned. The first link on the list was very weird it was
titled Acupunture and Chinese
Medicine. I read through that summary and
it did not contain the word Santa Clause in it. I wonder how this link
was related to Santa Clause.
The next link was titled Santa Clause Station. As I
read the first couple of lines, I started to get excited because it
mentions that you can get a personalized letter or a phone call from
Santa Clause for a child that you know. Then I thought that it would be
neat to order letters for my
nephews and nieces. But as I read on I found out that each letter will
cost $5.00 and the phone call cost $10.00. Yikes! That's too much. I
decided to go back to the list and choose another link.
This time I choose Santa's
Helpers US Workshop I really enjoyed this
homepage. It contained Christmas Stories, Christmas Songs and Poems,
Santa Clauses Movie and Christmas Show and many more. You can also write
a letter to him. I did. I was satisfied with the information that I
found, so I decided to look if Lycos had just as many links to Santa
Clause.
There were a lot of URL's found but I'm sure that most of them had
nothing to do with Santa Clause. I saw some from the list in
Metacrawler. I clicked on to Santa's Home Page. This
page looked very nice but it did not have interesting information about
it.
Basically, bothe search engines can do the job. Both of them gave me a
huge list of Santa Links. I enjoyed looking up Santa Clause, I bet
children will have lots of fun too escpecially when they are able to
e-mail him.
