Putting Up a Home Page

According to my ratings it seems that I had a much easier time this week compared to last weeks assignment. I think that it was much easier because we have been doing this type of assignment for the past three weeks. I wonder if we'll be doing anymore hard task? I hope not!

I noticed that I was on the computer for a long time, on Friday I was on the computer from 9:20 a.m. to 1:50 p.m. I completed the first and second subtask within two hours. For the rest of the time I was putting links on my report.

This week we were not given a lot of task. Our first task was to select a Hompe Page from Generation One (Psy 409) student. After selecting it we had to copy it on to our CSS directory and then modify it as we wished. Our last subtask was to add on links to all of our reports.
p For the first task I went into Netscape to copy a students Home Page. The student that I selected was Asahina. I saved her file on my personal diskette. I got this idea from Week 3 Assignment. After I saved it on the disk I change my screen to the FTP screen. I went to this screen because I wanted to transfer Asahina's file onto my CSS directory. This is were I spent most of my time, because I forgot what to write for Profile Name and Remote Host. After ten mintues of plugging in different words I finally got it. I changed my directory to "a:". Then I highlighted Asahina and pressed the arrow that was pointing to the right. Pressing it will transfer my file to my directory. Now my next task was to view it in pico or emacs. but before doing that I wanted to check if my file was in my ls.

At the ftp>, I typed get Asahina. It said that it was "not Connected". Since it said that I realized that I was not connected to my server, so I typed in www.soc.hawaii.edu. Later I typed my name and password and this time I remembered not to type my e-mail address. I use to get them mixed up all the time. When I sucessfully got in I typed get Asahina again, and this time it said "Port Command Successful". After gettting my file I typed ls to see my list of files in my server. It was in there. I noticed that it was named differently though, it was called asahina.htm. Why does it do that? I remembered that the same thing would happen in past assignments. Now I was ready to check it in pico or emace.

I chose to view in pico because emacs was giving me a difficult time. When I viewed it in pico I notice that Asahina's report was in html form. I modified her Home Page a lot. The first thing I did was to add "Como Esta", because she had a lot of greeting's except for this one. Then I channged all her images. I just selected something different. For example, if she had a chain bar going across I would change it to a regular line. Looking through her sources gave me some ideas for my home page. After modifing her home page I constantly looked back at her home page as a guide to making my home page. Her homepage helped me put up my link.1

I enjoyed putting links on my reports.
