Week 11: Report for the Health Related Internet

I started this week's search by heading directly to Lori Morita's home page, where an abundance of search engines could be found. I picked her week 4 report to see what engines I could find that would be helpful to my search, but was unsuccessful at that. For instance, I tried the world wide web worm and got no finds that were helpful to my topic whatsoever. Because I was doing a search on steroids, I typed "steroids" in, and got a series of links related to astronomy i guess it was because of the word "asteroid" in the documents! What a laugh! Oh well.

As I was looking around in Lori's team reports, I suddenly remembered the word "Savvy" mentioned in one of their ( Lori and Reylinda) presentations. I was able to find "Savvy Search" it in Lori's week 7 report and began my search by using the type-in query. It returned numerous links related to steroids, and I was able to do my report. I clicked on to a link called steroid based information and got a very informative document about the history, and effects of steroids.

According to the document, steroids somehow increase the utilization of protein in the body and form additional muscle in those who train their bodies and are well nourished. The document then goes on to list the side effects of steroids. Symptoms such as cancer, heart disease, liver disease, baldness, and so forth can be a direct result of steroid use. It also lists symptoms that a steroid use might have such as trembling, quick muscle and weight gain, bad breath, increased aggression, and so forth.

All in all, I found this document to be very informative, although the font was a bit small. as far as psychological aspects goes, it is interesting to see that people care enough to go through the trouble of putting this type of information on the net.
