I went about looking for Mental Health and used the Lycos engine
to search that particular topic. I then got to the mental health home
page, where I clicked on the link with the heading Mental Health and
Disabilities issues. It then led me to the M
ennoite Central Committee, or MCC for short. A
religious group based in
Canada, MCC deals with relief effort in war and poverty stricken countries, including the former Yugoslavia where children in Bosnia are given aid. Specifically, they were looking f
or volunteers for their international mental health and peace building tours, which are 2- 3 weeks long. They take participants to areas of the world where people have recently suffered severe trauma and dislocation. Participants will also interact with l
ocal mental health practitioners. Ordering a video tape of their work in other countries is a possibility.
After that, I went back to the mental health home page, and
looked up the Carter
Center home page. Headed by former first lady
Rosalynn Carter, the center was created for the well being of society's children. They don't only help the children of
the U.S., but other countries as well. They have done such things as battle Guinea worm and other diseases in Sudan, and is also helping out the people of bosnia.
