This week's task seemed pretty easy to accomplish even for me, the non computer enthusiast. After my first class was done, I headed to Porteus' second floor computer lab, where it's way more comfortable than Sinclair's Clic lab. It's air- conditioned, and all the times I've been there so far, I didn't have to wait for a computer. I also wasn't pressed for time, being that there's no user time limit, and there was always an empty computer around. This is heaven compared to the Clic lab!

After getting settled in with my computer, I headed to your home page to look up some generation I's home pages. I tried looking for one that was reasonably versed, and sufficient enough to alter. And, after much deliberation, I chose Linda K. Wong's home page to do my task. Having nightmares about last week's task, I was thinking that it was going to be the same old scenario- stuck, with no one to help me. I was in that dilemma again, about which route to choose to send the home page to my CSS account. I decided to do the usual, like I do with all my reports- save the document on my diskette, plug it into FTP, and send it to my CSS account.

I started by saving Linda K. Wong's home page on my diskette, but got stuck when I had to decide which format I was to save it in. I chose to save it in source, and went directly to FTP. The document then got transferred to my CSS account (which I thought wasn't going to work) where I was able to view it in pico and have everything and anything concerning that document to my disposal. I did such things as erase her name and put my name on it, altered various links, and changed some of the graphics..

I went back to netscape, expecting to see all the alterations but what I found was just the source file plans altered. Despite this, I was happy just to be able to publish it on netscape. however, I was curious just to see if replicating her home page down to the graphics was possible, so I went back to my CSS account and did the conversion from source to html. After completing this, I went to ls to see if it was there but a whole listing of files that I didn't put in was there! The original file that I transferred to there had the name wong.rtf but when I checked in there, there was a wong. to_html, a wong.fn.html, and a wong. rtf. html. I was afraid that I was messing up my CSS directory so I decided to delete all the files.

Despite all this, I was somewhat content that I was able to accomplish this week's task with relative ease. The environment helped also, making the job that much easier. I didn't have any feelings of "lacunae," and the only fossilized errors I had was thinking round-a- bout ways. By this I mean things such as getting to your home page, I still go the long way instead of simply typing in your address. However, I feel more comfortable by doing it this way so that there's no mistake that I will get there. Whenever I type in addresses, I am always prone to make typing errors.

As far as repeated lapses, They occurred in the beginning of my task. I kept thinking that I would get the same result as last time, and nothing will work. I felt as if I had a negative attitude from the beginning, but it slowly diminished as I got through the sub-tasks. I was just happy that I was getting somewhere this time!

Concerning this week, I feel that I had progressed way more than last week. I actually got something done without anyone's help for the first time, and was able to apply it to my forward progression. If I keep moving along at this rate, I feel that I will ultimately do well in this class.
