Phobias

Phobias can all around us we tend to fear the worse when we encounter odd situations or objects that we can stand. We begin to feel anxious, tense, nervous, and frightened of what my lie ahead of us. We fear the unknown. These experiences are what I go through each time I work on the computer. It is bad enough that I don't like computers but does my grade have to be based solely on the computer and what I put in it. I never realized that I had such a phobia working with computers until I took this class.

Computers were my friend, I never spoke ill about it, never took it for granted, never abused it but so how and somewhere it suddenly became my arch-enemy that I have come to distrust. I never can tell when it decides to turn on me and just ruin my whole life-- my whole existence. Oh, the pain and suffering I had to endure while trying to comply with this piece of reched- I mean- beautiful machine. I have certainly come to hate this type of machinery due to my lack of knowledge and experience with it. Take for example my Week 5 report. Now this is a prime example of the torture I had endured.

In my week 5 report I mention that my disk with all my current reports for this class and others were suddenly erased by the agreement to initialize it. WOW! That was certainly a grave mistake on my part. How could I have been so brave as to agree to something I didn't know what the consequence were? Well, this certainly placed me in a truamatic situation. After that I swore computers hated me and I truely hated them.

After a couple of weeks trying to avoid the computer I finally decided to take another stab at it and this time (learning my lesson) my experience was not that bad. Actually, I began accepting its faults and learned what to expect from the computer. I slowly gained my confidence back although once in a while I'll slip and do something that I shouldn't have but things turn out all right at the end. This is certainly a trial and error kind of relationship that we have, an almost "love and hate" type that will most likely be endless.
