Goaltender

One of the game's great clutch goaltenders, Patrick Roy has won three Vezina Trophy awards and been selected to five post-season NHL All-Star Teams in his 11-year career. In the 48-game 1994-95 season, Roy missed winning 20 games for the first time since joining the NHL, but did post a respectable 2.97 goals-against average and .906 save percentage.Despite having only twenty minutes of NHL experience, Roy was named the Montreal Canadiens #1 goaltender in 1985-86, and he responded by winning the Conn Smythe Trophy and leading the Habs to the Stanley Cup championship. In 1988-89, Roy compiled a 33-5-6 win-loss-tie record as the Canadiens advanced to the Stanley Cup finals once again. Although they lost to the Calgary Flames, Roy led all post-season goalies with a GAA of 2.09. The Canadiens returned to the finals for a third time in Roy's career in 1992-93, and once again it was Roy who provided the dramatics. Roy won 16 playoff games, 11 of them in overtime, to capture his second Conn Smythe Trophy and earn his second Stanley Cup ring.
