Section 3.

Well, this week I had a lot of catching up to do. With all of my difficulties that I had encountered in the earlier tasks and the presence of the new tasks at hand, I really had to search high and low in order to find time to try to catch up. As far as difficulty is concerned, I still had a lot of problems with the tasks that I had previous difficulty with. I think that I am getting closer to figuring them out, but I still need a lot more time to practice them.

I think that I have beautified my Home Page quite well. The lovely young woman who appears on the cover just happens to be one of my cashiers at work. Of course I had to ask her if I could use her picture just so she wouldn't be mad at me if she had happened to come across my Home Page. Thanks Tiana. Right now I am trying to get a background picture for my Home Page but as of this moment I have not quite found the right one.

For Tiana's picture, I saved it to my floppy disc by clicking on the picture with the right mouse button then choosing "save as" and indicating my filename and destination drive. The other picture that you can see is a clickable link.

Even though I still struggled in my attempts to try to catch up, I had a lot of fun looking at different pictures and icons and trying to decide which ones I wanted to put in my Home Page. I don't have any icons right now, but thanks to Cynthia Yap's group findings I will be looking into acquiring some and using them on my Home Page.

I think that this skill is going to be very useful to me especially if I plan to create my own Home Page, for either personal or business use, in the future. Of course I do know that I will most likely have to learn a lot more before I can even attempt to publish a decent Home Page, but that's not going to be until later. (Hopefully sooner than later.)

Beautifying my Home Page should not be too hard to do as long as there are other people's Home Pages to look at and borrow ideas from. I have looked at quite a few Home Pages and will be adding links to them very soon. When I do get around to doing them, they will be listed below. So, Y'all come back now ya' hear.

Well, here they are: Lori Morita, Christina Kealoha, and Braden Kato.

Things are really starting to look up in this class. My confidence level appears to be on the rise. My new computer is ordered should be on it's way to my home anytime soon. The sooner the better. My new computer will be a tremendous improvement over the home computer that I am using at this point in time. It's either going to be a 90 MHz Pentium or an AMD DX4 120, I left that option to my uncle who ordering my computer, with a 28,800 modem. That ought to put a little nitrous into my computer speed problems. So if you're on the information superhighway with me, look for my vapor trails. Warp eight Mr. Sulu.

But for now I am still stuck with the good old, but very slow, 386 at home. This was, and still is for the time being, my biggest cause of negative emotions.

The Internet is still as good as ever. Soon, hopefully, it will be better than ever. The future's so bright, I gotta wear shades.

I would guess that I could say that I tried really hard, considering the limited amount of time that I had, to complete or catch up to this weeks tasks. Thanks to Ala Moana's early sidewalk sale and the vacations of two of our managers, I had to put in a lot of time at work. ( 43 hours. ) This left me with no time to use the computers at U.H. so I had to settle for using the computer at home. Yes it's the same old, out of date 20 MHz 386. Because of the speed, actually lack of speed, of the computer, using the Winsock programs from home become very tedious. It takes quite a long time to load and run the programs and if I just so happen to get stuck on something or do something wrong, it takes one heck of a long time to redo. I tried to do whatever I could within the 90 minute time limit.

There were no noticeable differences in this weeks sub-tasks. We have been making links, downloading pictures, and learning about HTML throughout the course of the semester.

Except for the generation 1 file transfers and slow computer, I felt fairly good this week. The tasks in Netscape, picture downloading and source viewing, were pretty simple. Not too much of Mr. Lacunae this week.

The only real thing that I really need to do, besides sleep, is to get myself a new computer in order to limit my boredom and frustration. The Tortoise Effect.

My understanding of the Internet and the language that accompanies it appears to growing. It is a little easier to remember a lot of the codes and commands that can help me with writing in HTML and navigating Netscape.

I am still looking for good Hockey sites, go Canadians, so if anyone who reads this knows of a really good one, drop me a line. My e-mail address is at the bottom.

My conclusions and resolutions for this week are one in the same, I feel the need, the need for speed. ( More mhz. )
