Section 3.

At last we had a task that was not very hard. This week's task basically involved reading and reacting to a generation one Home Page and report. The reports that I chose to look at belonged to Kyle Fujii, and There was very little negative emotions involved in doing these tasks except for the same old complaints about limited computer time and the lack of computer speed. However, the latter of the two complaints should be alleviated by at least the end of this week. My uncle said that my computer should come in by that time. I think that it is a Micron P-75.

It was good for my self confidence that this week's tasks were pretty easy, although it was on the upswing due to the fact that I was finally able to catch up, I am starting to feel a bit more secure and any positives that can occur will only take me to a higher level.

Being able to locate, examine, and report on various subjects will always be useful. This will not be the only time that I will have to use the computer to look into areas that I have not seen before, after all, I be a college student and I need these skillz to further my edumakation.

As previously said, the ability to read and examine different forms of literature can only enhance my education and I hope that I will become very good at this.

I would rather answer this question in my next report due to the eagerly awaited arrival of my new computer system. At this point in time however, it is the same as usual, good Internet systems and average computer systems. ( The high rating is also due to my new computer. It may be a high expectation but I will do almost anything to boost my confidence. )

I think that I tried very hard to do the required tasks. It may be something that I already know how to do but any variance in normal routines does require effort.

I took a look at the student files. I noticed that each of the ones that I had decided to look at each had two or three different links to various Home Page sites. Are we supposed to do the same things? I looked into the various Home Page sites and this is what I found:

Alison Asahina:

I went to artistic Home Page but it did not seem to want to load up onto my computer. All of the images came up as those funny little broken glass little squares and none of the text came up. It may have been creative at one time, but for now i will never know.

I then went to her standard Home Page. Here I found some nice little icons. There were links to all of her weekly reports and lab reports as well as some search engine links. She also had a description of each assignment.

I clicked on the lab report link which, surprise, took me to her lab reports. What happened next gave me a feeling of deja vu. It had brought me back to the very same page. Just to make sure that I was not seeing things I clicked on the back button. Nope, no mistake, I was in the same place.

The index page just had a listing of her assignments. Nothing special.

Kyle Fujii:

I went to Kyle's creative Home Page and was greeted by Opus. Then to my astonishment, the infamous Budweiser frogs came. BUD---WEIS---ER. There were no pictures here but there were a whole bunch of icons. Many were used to call attention to various links that were on this particular Home Page. Some of those links are, David Letterman's Top Ten List, ESPN Sportszone, and L.A. Lakers Home Page. He also included linkes to different search engines as well as a Last Will and Testament. Very interesting.

His standard Home Page also had icons in it but it was of usual small type and included links to his lab assignments.

His index Home Page was a little different, it was all in italics. His weekly assignments were also located here.

Linda Wong:

I was greeted by a big Welcome. Gee, it sure is nice to feel wanted.

But just like Alison's creative Home Page, there were no icons or pictures. Instead there were these boxes with question marks in them. Something is not right here. The links were present, but nothing else.

I decided to change my strategy and went to her standard Home Page first. Here standard Home Page had all of the necessary links and even took it a step further. Below each link there was an explanation of each weekly assignment. Nice touch. On to the creative page......

Her creative Home Page was also full of little icons. She had search engine links there as well as links to a couple of unusual sites: Something about pop tarts and grapes.

As far as the content was concerned, it looked like they were going through the same things that we are going through now. A lot of frustration and feeling lacunae. Hopefully we will be able to get the hang of this a little quicker then most of them did. After all, we are the next generation.

There were no fossilized errors or feeling of lacunae this week. Thank God!!! It was pretty much your standard study and report.

I seem to be getting a lot better in my ability to use the different techniques that are involved in obtaining the required knowledge. Let us hope that there are no more backwards steps.

Most of the Home Pages that I looked at were very well done. They were filled to the brim with links to other people and places. If you want to see them, just click HERE. There were a lot of icons but no pictures. Why? I just hope that my Home Page will look at least as good if not better than the generation one Home Pages.
