Section3.

All of the ratings for this week's tasks are pretty much the same as last week's. It was a little more difficult due to the fact that we had look a little deeper into what was said and done, but all in all it was about the same.

The difficulty factor was low since it was basically a repeat task.

Little or no negative emotions to speak of. Except for when I get cut off in the middle of doing, viewing, or loading something. #@%&$!!!! You get the idea. I almost forgot, my Grandfather's house only has pulse dialling and it took me awhile to figure out how to change the login setting on my PPP kit from tone to pulse. Only a little frustration because I figured it out soon after.

Any knowledge that can be gained is invaluable.

I seem to be getting better at everything as the time goes on. May the force be with me.

My satisfaction with the computer and Internet systems has incresed tremendously thanks to the arrival of my new computer system. It's a Micron P-75 system. I also upgraded my Netscape viewer to v1.2. The images are looking a whole lot better now. Warp speed Mr. Data. Engage.

I have been going to sleep at about 4:30 every morning since Thursday. Enough said!!!

I decided to look at three different student files for this week's tasks. These files belong to Beverly Diaz, Barry Kwock, and Jason Raad. On to Beverly's file....

On Beverly's Home Page sat a picture of a beautiful Orchid. ( That was a big plus because my grandfather grows orchids. ) She had links to her lab reports ( and a brief synopsis of them), Her alternate Home Page ( Topical index. ), her graphical Home Page, her glossary, student Home Pages, student lab reports, and the instructors Home Page. She also had some fun links like, Calvin and Hobbes, a nutrition site, and a fitness site.

On her topical Home Page she also had links to her lab reports, to her glossary, to other PSY. 409 lab reports, other students Home Pages and links to areas within her lab reports.

Her graphical Home Page takes quite a long time to load. ( 200,000 bytes) When it did finally load up, I found out why. There is a big picture of the generation one class in there. The links that were there were the same as the ones in her topical Home Page minus the links to the areas within her lab reports. On to Barry Kwocks file.....

Sorry Barry but there is a serious problem with your Home Page. There were no live links in his page so there was no way to access any of the information that was in there. All that was there was a lot of text about his weekly assignments and lab reports. On to Jason Raad's file.......

Jason Raad's standard Home Page had links to his weekly reports, his glossary, his lab reports, the instructor's comments on his lab reports, the instructors comments on other student's lab reports, other student's glossaries, other student's lab reports ( Is he a nosy guy or what. Just kidding Jason.), his other Home Page, and finally his other o ther Home Page. (That last link is no typo Dr. James, that's really what he calls it. )

Jason's other Home Page has links to student labs, student glossaries, student Home Pages, his homework assignments, and the instructors Home Page. Everything on this page is done in italics and the links and corresponding reports are all on the same file.

Jason's other other Home Page is made especially for people with poor eyesight. It is done in all large font and contains links to his original Home Page, his index Home Page, student labs, student glossaries, student Home Pages, his homework assignments ( with links to different areas within the different assignments. ), and his glossary.

Comments.

While reading through beverly's lab reports, I almost had the feelngs of deja vu. It seems as though we had taken almost the exact same path to this particular point in time. The first couple of weeks seemed fine for her but when the tasks got harder the frustration and technophobia reared it's ugly head. From there until about the sixth week her thoughts seemed to be going on a wild rollercoaster ride. Lots of ups and downs with a lot of sharp twists and turns. Pheww, what a ride. Don't worry Bev, I know the feeling. By the time she finished weeks seven and eight, she sounded pretty confident. I should be so lucky.

As for Jason, his ride seemed to start from week one all the way past week eight. I don't think he felt very comfortable until about the tenth week. At least that's what it sounded like to me. Most of his thoughts seemed to be more on the negative side. He has felt the power of the darkside of the force but must not be influenced by it.

Conclusions.

Although much of the class seem to be well ahead of the people from the first generation, I feel like I am going at about the same pace, or maybe a little faster, as they were. I hope that I will be able to pull ahead and never have to look back.
