WEEK 10 GROUP REPORT

Hey, kids. What can I tell you? You are about to witness the phenomenon known as my Week 10 Group Report (trumpets blare). Ok, for this week I took a look at home page help junk, specifically, homepage tricks and tips (that's what I typed in as my query). I used the search engines Lycos and Galaxy and found some interesting stuff (interesting being a relative term).

First Lycos and my findings there. The first document I looked at was called Cytopia Tips & Tricks. Alrighty, another tool of commerce, they are selling stuff, it's an ad. This stuff is pretty straight-forward and not terribly interesting (they were more into soliciting tips and tricks). Again in terms of social psychology, helping others, assisting others (to get you to buy their stuff).

The next thing I took a look at was called the Tips Page. This page was full of keyboard shortcuts that the lovely people who put up these homepages use. For example hitting control s might unfreeze your Mac and save your data. and other tricks like this (although I don't really know what those other things really do). Check it out. There really was no narrative style to speak of, just a short paragraph and a table with the commands and the function and the Mac system that they work for. More helping for the social psychology aspect (these are all help stuff though, so bear with me). This page didn't seem to have any software peddling attached so, that makes it more of a labor of love deal.

On to the stuff I found on Galaxy. The first thing I looked at was called the James Burns Homepage. Mr. Burns is a graphic designer and this homepage is for him to present himself and the topics that interest him. I guess what he does is write articles on different subjects and posts them. This time he wrote about what you need to create your own 3-D graphics. Quite interesting and written in an easy to read manner. Definitly and aspect of self-presentation and helping others involved (see I came up with a different reason). If anyone's interested in 3-D graphics, check it out.

The last thing I took a lo ok at was not related but, to put it plainly, damn funny. The Rubber Stamping Page. Hey, who knew. Check out the latest tricks and tips in rubber stamping, stores in the city you are visitin g, new and creative ideas, addresses of rubber stamping companies, and reviews of rubber stamping books. Only for the hardcore rubber stampers out there. I hope you all know that I'm merely amused by this and not attacking rubber stamping (it's a hob by like any other), I don't want any angry e-mail from pturbed rubber stampers now. In relation to social psychology, rubber stamping connects all these different people across our great nation and is a means for people to relate to one another (cool another different reason).

Ok, in conclusion, that's it go home already. You darn kids (as prefaced by "and I would have gotten away with it if it weren't for you...).
