Backgrounds

This week, our assignment was to catch up on old tasks left by the wayside and to try and make our homepages just a little bit lovelier. In my effort I accomplished both in one fell swoop. I looked into Lori Morita's Team 5, Week 5 report and found the link for the Background sampler. This link took me to a page where there were a bunch of tiles that you could download onto a diskette. I didn't get to download an image for the week 2 assignment so this took care of that. All I did was hold the mouse button down while on the image and save it to my disk. All in all, I saved about 7 backgrounds and tried them all. The blue that is on my homepage now is the one I thought looked the best, without looking too wimpy (hey, I'm as much in touch with my feminine side as the next guy bu t you have to draw the line somewhere). The next thing I'm working on is the graphics. For this I decided not to use things I find on the net, I'm going to attempt to scan in my own graphics and see how that works out (ok, so they're not exactly "my own" graphics, I just happen to like them and will use them). A friend of mine Johnny, whose homepage is the Fuddy Duddy page, is going to show me how to use the scanner and create gif files. In exchange for this enlightenment, I'm going to show him how to put graphics on his homepage and change backgrounds. Anyway enough rambling already.

Ramblings

This week's tasks weren't too difficult, it was actually kind of fun, I was enjoying playing decorator man and trying to find ways to spruce up my page. On the other han d, while it wasn't difficult, it was a pain changing background colors to see which one was the nicest.

This week has been rather + (that's positive to the laymen) and enjoyable (I realize the quota for saying the word enjoyable is 3 per paper) . Not too much - emotion (that's negative, ok that's it for that one, I realize it wasn't much of a joke to begin with but I try), unless you count Japanese as part of this class. Working of the computer has actually become somewhat of a relief from speaking a foreign language

The value of beautifying one's homepage is something one can't put a price on, the aesthetics one can create with simplicity and balance can resonate in a harmonious creation. I think it was Bugs Bunny who said,"Ahh , shut up!" (that filled the pseudo-Eastern philosophy pretentiousness quota). At any rate yes, it's a useful skill.

I think I'll be getting rather good at this stuff (as opposed to just a couple of weeks ago), I think I'm actually liking compu ters now (computer geeks of the world unite, a new one is born). I forgot the basic rule, walk before you run, but I was expecting to ride a bicycle before I crawled.

I'm pretty darn satisfied with the computer and Internet systems (now) and t hink I might keep on doing something with it after this class is over. I do believe that the Fuddy Duddy page might need someone to help maintain it (this would be another way to be involved with Fuddy Duddy [I also write music reviews for the fanzine ] and the local music scene).

I tried and am trying hard to stay on top of things and maintain everything. It took me a while to get a clue and now that I have one, I want it to stay that way (I was drowning earlier in the term but I plan to waterski the rest of the way).

As for fossilized errors, I think I have everything pretty much under control. She's running fine, Captain.

I do notice especially today that I use a ridiculous amount of parenthesis for my lab reports (as I'm easily side-tracked onto tangents) and this could be considered an acquisition (as long as I'm doing it right and they're sort of relevant)

In conclusion, that's all folks.
