Alrighty, here goes yet another weekly report. This week the assignm
ent was to look
into the Generation One files and browse through the
reports. I looked into Ryan
Higa
and Jason Raad's
files. I chose
these two because Ryan and I have a common
first name and Jason because I stole his homepage for Week 6. Admittedly
most of my week
was spent in search of good icons to put on my homepage. I managed to find a few
that I liked, posted one on my homepage and still plan to try to scan in images that
I like.
My first impressions of the reports were, that they
are shorter than the ones we are
required to write and that all the reports were one long file making for a seemingly
inconvenient construction. First to Mr. Higa. His homepage and reports seemed very
well written and thought out, also rather stark,
which I sort of liked. I did notice
that during the second week Mr. Higa wrote about having a terrible time and being
very frustrated. That's something I can definitely relate to as I look back over
my files (so speaketh the seasoned veteran [or so
it feels like]). I suppose it's somewhat
comforting to know that you are not alone in having problems and feeling inadequate
and stupid.
The very first thing I noticed about Mr. Raad's homepage and reports were the very
bad spelling and the
general nature of his reports. The one thing I can agree with
and find somewhat funny is his little message that starts of his reports saying that,
"this is the last thing I type" and something to the effect of not having to do it again.
This week h
as been rather limited time wise and sort of flat in general. I still
enjoy looking around the net but the fire is dwindling (the honeymoon may
not be
over but the shine is dulling [sorry, the cliches just wouldn't
stop, please send help]).
Now onto the
ratings. This week I
didn't find the assignment difficult, basically
it was comprised of looking over files in Generation One, and being the literate
fellow I am (yes, believe it or not I can read) it was not unpleasant. The only
thing th
at is kind of daunting is adding links to my reports, since, the text is wrapped in
pico and the thought of anchoring all my reports.
Not too much negative emotion to speak of, although I am kind of disappointed this
week, the tolerance is ri
sing I need a stronger fix (or something). I did have some
negative emotion toward Japanese class but that's another story.
Reading through the older files was actually a very useful skill in that some of the
pitfalls we may encounter and so
me of the negativity is discussed and made to seem
a little more
natural, you don't feel as if you're isolated and alone (whoa, teen
crisis line anyone?)
Man this week I slaved and wouldn't give
up, I struggled on and on until the task
was done, the enormity of which
is unparalleled in my academic career (ha, ha =:-0).
Ok, sorry.
Ramblings
Fossilized errors. Nothing really
so to speak of. All is
cool on the western front.
I did feel lacunae this week. While in the lab, the girl ne
xt to me was typing a
paper and she was going at a good clip (by the sound of the keyboard clicks). I
thought, "hey, my typing is getting better and more accurate, I can do that." What
can I say, she was like a Toyota and I, I was like an old pair of
thrift store roller skates
(not even blades [by the way I hate roller blades {unless of course they are used
for hockey purposes, then I don't mind}]).
I do feel like the reasoning process and the skills of raiding other people's homepages
(
for codes) have developed quite nicely. As always being a jolly pirate
(for codes
only) and sailing the seas on the sea of technology (ok I
would like some crackers
with my cheese).
I realize that this
week is a short report but I'm trying to work hard on all the things that
need to be done before I fall behind. As I mentioned earlier the tasks
to be completed are daunting (seemingly) ones, but I'll just have to sit
down and muddle through them. Well, that's it, til next week
kids.
