Group report #14
This week I explored Spectrum
University. I have reported about
it in Week #10 but this time I thought I'd talk
about a more specific thing about Spectrum
University. The organization and style of the page.
Although the page has a black background, it is not difficult
to read because the font colors are either white or yellow or
some other light color. The first page you come across has two
doors partially open. You are to click into the area behind the
doors to get to the next page. I'm not sure what other purpose
this serves except to give you a feeling that you're entering
a University or perhaps to make the guest feel welcome. Like
how when you open your door to your guest and say "Welcome,
come on in".
The next page has all the icons of the different things you can
do. The only problem is that the first time I went into this
page, I did not know what each icon stood for. I had to play
around with them before I got to know what each stood for. They
were not that obvious that everyone would understand what the
pictures represented.
This page is fun to play with. They tried to model it like a
real university. There is a library, lessons to learn, a cafe
and other things you would normally find on a college campus.
It is not intimidating and allows a new user to the internet
to learn how to use it and what it is all about through the lessons.
