Cynthia Yap's Week #12 Report: Comparing our first and second
half group reports
As I compare our first half and second half team
reports,
I do not notice a significant difference. A similar problem throughout
is the length of the reports. I think that in the first half,
the short length of the reports was due to the insecurity of exactly
how much we were supposed to go into detail about the information
we found. I think the reports are very minimal. For the second
half, I have no excuse for the short length. I knew exactly what
was expected but did not put in the necessary time to make a really
good report. I still only did the minimal work. Now looking back,
I can see how we can make each report longer. Hopefully we will
have the time to do it.
Lori Morita's reports, on
the other hand, are very well done from Report #1 to the current
reports. Lori's reports are easy to
read and they are interesting.
In most of her reports she not only talks about the search engines
she has found, but also things she thought we could benefit from.
It is very obvious that Lori has put a lot of work into her report.
There is a dramatic difference in Yoon
Cho's first half of
his reports and the second half. In the latter half of the semester,
it is apparent that he has gained skills that allow him to get
the information that he needs to complete his reports. For the
first half of the semester he was probably like us, unsure and
apprehensive of what to do. Then in the second half, his reports
are more detailed and show his confidence.
The principles that should be followed when writing the group
reports are to first describe the search engine used and the words
typed into the search engine, as Dr. James suggested in the middle
of the semester. The next thing is to talk about what kinds of
results occurred. Describing and summarizing the specific link
would follow. Then finally the importance to social psychology.
After all of this, then other interesting things can be added.
I think that the main thing to do first is to talk about the subject
assigned to the group. There are some groups that seemed to have
veered away from the group's assigned topic.
Overall, I think that everyone has improved in one way or another.
Looking back at how much knowledge of the internet we had at the
beginning of the semester compared to what we know now, it is
amazing. Everyone has come a long way.
