It has been yet another week exploring the internet. Last week's topic was motorcycles, this week it's everything you ever wanted to know about surfing. I didn't expect to find so much information on this topic, but low and behold my net search held the key to knowledge, wonder and mysticism. (well not quite, but at least it's informative) Starting out I did a net search (again) on surfing. There were links on everything and anything involving the fun loving sport so often seen in Hawaii. But you'll never guess... it even talked about surfing the internet. (go figure...haha...)
The first link that seemed to call my name was the KFJC Surfmeister. The way it sounded in my head made me think of those narly haole dudes from shows like fast times at Ridgemont high or valley girls. I quickly found out that his homepage had lot's to offer. I looked under the Surf Heavies Updated and in this link there was a glossary that listed a secret surf code. To be completely honest I have no idea exactly what it means. It seems like a type of rating system that surf heavies use. I'll give you a little sneak peek: *nice- listen, credible, occasional play. *over the top-totally tubular, infectious, addicting, radical, must have extreme rotation. Your guess is as good as mine. I think that language, and communication has to deal with traffic psychology because all drivers need to have a universal, common language in order to understand on another. If there is repoire, then maybe there will also be respect. With respect there will come a sense of courtesy and politeness that will aid in safer driving.
Another link under KFJC Surfmeister's home page was called Satellite Surfing. The title got me so excited, I just had to see what it was all about. Well, to my disappointment it was a link asking for help and information on making "surf's up" syndicated and transmittable via satellite. Once it's up I'll probably check it out again, but for now it doesn't really seem to have too much to do with anything.
The last section I browsed through was the Surf News Update. Under it were links to places around the world that are heavily involved with surfing. To name just a few, there were links to San Francisco, Canada, and Australia. Pretty neat stuff, especially being all linked together.
All in all this weeks search on surfing ended up being a long stretch away from traffic. Next week I hope to explore surf traffic in a different way. Until then "asta la vista baby....!"
