Underwater Beauty...
This is a shot of the reef at my father's beach in Guam. Isn't it
beautiful? This is one of my favorite underwater pictures because it
illustrates the complex structures of the reef. Most people might think
that reefs are usually just flat--this is not always the case. At my
father's beach, there are a variety of reef structures. You can see
sections of the reef that jut up from the bottom of the ocean floor,
forming pillars up to about 20 feet below the surface. There are also
parts of the reef that have cracks on the bottom, allowing divers to swim
through and see the marine life that lives in there.
If you can, you should seriously consider becoming a diver. Your whole
world expands greatly and you can, even if it is just for a moment,
become a member of the underwater community each time you dive. Diving
is a natural high. It is also something we should all do responsibly and
with the greatest respect for underwater life.
