Doing a search using Lycos I was able to find a very interesting article on the topic of car culture activities. By entering the term car trips I was able to find an article entitled:

White River National Forest

The title is a little deceiving but it has everything to do with my topic. If you are interested in sightseeing and scenic drives, then you should definately check out some of the areas in the White River National Forest. Day trips by car can be exhilarating and breathtaking.

One place you must visit is the Independence Pass Area. It is located on highway 82 southeast of Aspen, Colorado and is the highest mountain pass in the USA.

The Ghost Town of Independence is located 16 miles east of Aspen on Independence Pass (Highway 82) and was established by miners from Leadville a year before Aspen came into existence. If you continue east on highway 82 for another 4 miles you will reach the summit of Independence Pass. There is a paved parking lot where you can leave your and hike, or just enjoy the view. However a note of caution is required here: Independence Pass is a paved, winding road that has three narrow sections, and is closed when snow begins to fall.

Sometimes we need to use our cars to have some fun. Just remember that speeding, driving with reckless abandon, or tailgaiting are not the correct ways to seek enjoyment in your automobile. However, taking a sightseeing or scenic day trip by car is definitely a good way to have fun. Can you imagine driving through the highest mountain pass in the USA? Don?t you think it would be fun?

Even if you can?t afford to go to Colorado, you can do this right here on Oahu. You can drive up Tantalus or take the scenic route to Makapuu. My point here is that sometimes you need to enjoy the luxury of driving in order to appreciate your car.
