Takahashi's Non-Traffic Related Team Report: Week 13
"Non-Traffic Related Incidents"
Team #6 Report: Week
Thirteen
Since this is my last team report, I decided to do something different.
Since I wasnt able to do anything on car-related traffic psychology
during the semester Im going to stick in something that I did on my own.
This is a frustrating issue for me because I am very close to someone
that was a victim of this horrible habit. What I want to talk about is
Driving Under the Influence, DUI.
There is no question about it that the first thing that comes first in
traffic safety is practicing you moral as well as lawabiding values when
you drive. To drink and drive is immoral and against the law. I know
that youve probably heard this a million times in you lifetime but it
never seems to be enough.
I have a friend who lost her father in a terrible car accident on Kauai
and I was one of her friends that was there to comfort her when the news
came. It was the first time that I felt like I was no use to her or her
problem, so I decided that I would just be there for her when she needed
me.
It was a two-lane road and late at night when a corvette came out of
nowhere, it crossed the center line and with no where to go her father,
that innocent man, became the victim of yet another drunken driver.
The two cars exploded on impact and when it was over there were no
survivors. The killers vehicle had no insurance, therefore, her family
could not collect anything from the killer and so they were left with
nothing!
I know that you mustve heard thousands of stories like that, but believe
me, until it happens to someone close to you, youll always think that
yours is the worse case of DUI overall.
My last link will guide you in the right direction to one of the major
focuses of traffic psychology and traffic safety. I found this page
called California Drunk Driving
and
it contains everything you need to know about DUI, and even some things
that you may not want to hear about. Links such as the DUI law, Blood Alcohol
Limit, and even a DUI test: How well do
you know the law?
So please if you dont have time to look through this link, please try to
make time because it could make a difference in your future and maybe
somebody elses.
