"Non-Traffic Related Incidents"
Team #6 Report:
Week Seven
As I was using the search engine Metacrawler I looked under the
topic ironman because I wanted to get an article about the lady who
collapsed. I wasn't able to find it but I did find something that I
really liked better!
The annual canoe paddling race held in Hawai'i is known as the Na
Wahine o Ke Kai and it's popularity is growing rapidly! On September
24, 1995 there was a canoe race held in Honolulu, Hawai'i featuring the
world's best paddlers and what a great race it was!
It was a record-breaking day as the teams hurried around the
shores of Hawai'i. A record set in the year 1990 was a time of 5:44:13
(or rather 5 hours:44 minutes: and 13 seconds was broken by the first
seven teams who crossed the finish line.
The Offshore Canoe Club of Newport Beach, California arose as the
reigning champions breaking a record with their own best time of 5
hours:24 minutes:and 32 seconds. This is a good 20+minutes better than
their usual time.
I chose this article as relating to traffic psychology because I
just think that it must be heaven out there riding the waves of the
ocean. I mean think about it, no convoys surrounding you, no speed
limit, no tailgating..... I just think that it's a therapeutic sport to
play and I hope maybe one day I'll be able to try it, maybe with our
generation two class (Ha Ha!).
