Group Report #7:
This week I used the search engine Web Crawler. I typed in the words car
traffic. As usual, there were many results. The page that I chose to
report about was the page about Freewheelers. I
thought that this page was interesting because it says that 80% of all
cars traveling across country have only one driver. The country they are
refering to is the United Kingdom. I actually thought
that when people travel long distances they do it with at least one other
person.
This Freewheeler page is a proposition for drivers to share
these long distances with Freewheeler members. The idea is that it would
be a more sociable and pleasurable ride. Not to mention the reduction of
traffic and pollution.
I think that this page is useful to traffic psychology because it shows
that people do want to try to relieve the traffic problems they
encounter. I think that the world would be a better place if people did
not have to go through the whole process of driving in traffic. As it is
now, the idea of good will to mankind seems to be deminishing. I think
that by people not getting aggrevated on the road, they will be better
people.
