Cynthia Yap's Group Report #8:
Group Report #8:
For this week, I used the Web Crawler again. Like last
week's report, I typed in car traffic. This time I found a page
called Blind
Trust. What this page is about is the problems with police radar. A
nonprofit organization RADAR, Radio Association Defending Airwave Rights
Inc published this page. It talks about traffic radar reliability and
the differences between two types of radars. After describing the two
types of radars, the report goes on to describe all the types of errors
and problems that can occur when using radars. At the end of the report
they say that if you feel you are undeserving of the speeding citation,
you can get help from this organization.
I think that this is a very informative page. It tells the reader all
about radars and how they work. I think that it would be very helpful
for someone who got a speeding ticket because he was caught on radar.
This information could also cause the traffic courts to become backed up
due to people contesting their tickets. If more people had this
information, I think that more people would contest their tickets.
This page can contribute to the study of traffic psychology because it
would influence how people feel and what they think when they get a
speeding ticket because of a radar gun. Perhaps more people wouldn't
worry as much about speeding because they feel they can get off. Here in
Hawaii though, we do not use radar guns so I don't think it would affect
our traffic very much.
