My initial visit to the Porteus Lab:
This first lab report is done on my first class project in Psychology 409. The subject topic was health and related fields on the internet. The following reports will be on usenet groups from my Psychology 459 class.
My first visit to this lab was not my first so I was sort of comfortable using these computers. Although I did had some negative feelings due to having done the bulk of my statistics class work here. Something I did not care much for. I easily got the computer running and got into NETSCAPE. My instructions were to go to the directory and click on search. Here there were things about search engines that I did not know much about.
My first search ended up in a guys home page. His name was Ari Luotonen. He had a nice picture of himself posted. Well, he wasn't very attractive, but he had some really nice graphics on his page. I hope to be this advanced later on.
My next search ended up on another persons home page. This guys name was Dan and he named his home page, "Dan's Place". How original. He put a really goofy picture of himself on the page. That's what I'm going to do before semester ends. I'm going to put a really goofy picture of myself on my homepage. Wouldn't be hard to find one since I'm goofy anyway.
I then got on a Yahoo search. I can not remember how I got here but it was very helpful. I clicked on health and got all kinds of headings for health. Of course I went straight to sexuality. First heading was advice. I wanted to give the computer some advice, but that's another story. I just realized I had been doing my area subject along with my individual assignment. Also realized I began to have some fun on the computer. Most of the time I'm on the computer it is to write a paper for some class. This time it's for fun.
I then went to beastiality. First thing that caught my eye was, "Happiness is a warm puppy". That totally grossed me out. I got out of sexuality quickly. My next stop was body building. I got into their picture gallery and there were some great pictures of body builders. Dorian Yates was the most impressive since he was Mr. Olympia. Clicking the picture made the picture even bigger. I saved these pictures on my disk and couldn't wait to open it on my home computer.
I got home that night and realized I had no program that would open these files. It was very disappointing, but I really enjoyed the World Wide Web and couldn't wait serf it again.
