Exploring Generation One (G1)...

Kevin Bogan's Homepage(G1)

As I was wondering around the internet I came across an interesting link to Kevin Bogan's Homepage, where it seemed to appear a real graphic photograph of students standing on the bridge. I was amazed at how that photo got into the computer and was able to come up on the screen. That is when it hit me that this new technology is really coming alive now-a-days and is taking over our future. Bogan, of what I heard, is the computer expert within his generation one (G1) semester class in Dr. Leon James' traffic psychology course. He has very helpful files, from the help of Dr. Leon James, called helpfiles to help one to find his/her way out of computer difficulties. (And to give out helpful hints to other generations). Another popular file of his is the, frequently asked questions (FAQ) file where people can explore to find some answers on how to work the many of telnet commands. Trust me, take advantage of all the help that is lingering on the internet. Almost everyone who works on the computer knows the troubles one can face when learning netscape and its telnet commands, so from experiences, most people try to include helpfiles to teach anyone who clicks onto their web site homepages how to overcome some "computer stress", such as Dr. Leon James and Kevin Bogan did in their files.

I like the way Bogan organized and kept his files in orderly fashion. Anyone who clicks onto his web site files and skims through them can automatically sense that this guy spent lots of waking hours working on the computer. His lab reports are incredible. They are all neat, and in order by each session he had, and the dates, and what occured, and what he learned, and just very detailed information. Not to mention, he also included the time and place he was able to work on the internet for each session he had, and included what type of computer he was able to use, whether it was a macintosh or an IBM computer.

Jae Isa's Homepage (G1)

The first three weeks of school, Dr. Leon James, handed the class a worksheet called, "Getting Started: Weeks 1, 2, & 3", which basically stated what we will be learning and practicing on the internet. On his instructions #3, he asked us to construct our own World Wide Web homepage on the internet by looking at other homepages from generation one (G1) and generation two (G2) to get an idea on what our homepages and files should look like. Well, the first homepage that I visited was Jae Isa's homepage. The reason why I chose her homepage was because I have a friend with the same last name. I just thought maybe I knew of her through my friend. But also, I noticed while visiting other generations homepages, a lot of students used Jae Isa in their reports. So seeing that her files were frequently linked on other files, I figured I should check it out and see how good her reports were. (Big hint, follow the steps of those who seem knowledgeable, and just maybe you can get some helpful ideas from them.)

But anyways, getting back to my report, I enjoyed browsing around Jae Isa's files. She has some cute icons to see and interesting outside links to look upon. I liked her "fun", and I call it "fun files", because she has enjoyable files to read, sort of like comics and riddles. Some files Isa has on her homepage are Winnie the Pooh and Friends, Gates of Heaven, and my favorite, Things to Ponder, and much more. I liked how she made her homepage more personal and fun than educational and boring. Not that I am saying education is boring, but sometimes just reading all the manuals, and taking notes in class on how to work the internet can get a bit irritating and fustrating, if you know what I mean. But Isa made her files unique where it was fun to stroll along.

Joe Allen's Homepage (G1)

A homepage with an eye-stricking screen of beautiful background and pictures has got to be Josephine Allen's. Her homepage puts one in a relaxing and comfortable stage. The colors of the background and icons, and the word fonts and spacings helps others to read with ease. I must say my first impression of Allen's homepage was that he's a she. I thought Joe was a guys name until I read the homepage, "Home Page of Josephine Allen Disciple of Jesus Christ". And I also assumed that Allen is a religous person due to some of the words on her files. You know, I used to be a strong church goer, until I became too busy with work, school, and family stuffs.

But, getting back to report 1, one very educational file that Allen had on her homepage files was Procedures in Traffic Psychology which came from one of Dr. Leon James, files on the definition of traffic psychology. As Allen mentions in her files, I agree with her that anyone taking psychology 459 or 409--Traffic Psychology should take some time to read through that file to see what the class is all about, and what Dr. Leon James is basically looking for in a students work files. Believe me, it will help anyone taking Dr. Leon's course have a better understanding on what to expect in his class. His courses may seem easy, but it is not as easy as it seems. There is more to learn, experience, and explore to in his courses. But I must say it is a journey to remember always. Why you ask? Just check it out for yourself. If you have the time to click onto other people's work sites from Dr. Leon James' generation(s) students, they will tell you all about their experience in being a part of Dr. Leon James' generation(s).

As I strolled down Allen's homepage and skimmed through her weekly lab reports, I noticed a useful list that she got from someone who got from a book called, "The Effects of Driver Improvement School". This list came from Allen's week 13 lab report. Here the report title, Overcoming Resistance to Proper Driving Procedures, (and if you arrow down a little), you will hit a list of 21 desirable attitudes to have when driving. As Allen states, this list has a very high potential of being reasonable and common sense rules to follow when driving an automobile. Just maybe every driver should read this list of 21 desirable attitudes before they get behind the wheel because if gives off a feeling of courtesy, patience, and safety. No one should go off driving if they are grouchy, grumpy and bitchy, for they could harm themselves and others around them.

Exploring Generation Two (G2)...

Cynthia Yap's Homepage (G2)

What caught my attention when I clicked onto Cynthia Yap's Homepage was the cutest icons of Mickey Mouse. She had icons and even links to click onto the Disney's Homepage where one can check out what is going on, estimate Disney's hotel rates, and even make reservations on the internet. I could not believe my eyes. I did not realize that this computer stuff, meaning, netscape, internet, and e-mail, has gotten so far all around the world. These computer whizzes whom came up with all this jazz really hit it big this time. They make it so much easier for one to stroll along the Homepage's and make reservations right there and then.

I recommend anyone who is thinking about going on vacation anytime soon to check out Cynthia's Homepage, or click onto this link, DISNEY for some wonderful ideas on what Disney has going on at the time, what hotels are housewarming, which golf course is the biggest and how much it costs to play golf, what new rides are coming, and lots more interesting information. I believe the internet is more informative than talking to your travel agent and looking at those boring brochures. Instead, we can all see it for ourselves what the place looks like on the computer screen, and feel a lot more excited and willing to go on vacation now.

To be honest with you all, Cynthia's Homepage was the one that caught my eye and made me interested in learning all about this new technology that is coming into our future. When I have the time and money to go on vacation, I will definitely try out the internet way for information and reservations.

Aaron Takahashi's Homepage (G2)

As I strolled along Aaron Takahashi's Homepage, I came across his miscellaneous files which had typical guys files, such as the Sport's International's Sports Info Center. I was so excited when I saw this link because now I can show it off to my boyfriend, whom I must say always has to watch Sports Center every night. But this link was facinating because it had informative information on all kinds of sports; football, basketball, baseball, and even horse racing. And now instead of buying a newspaper just to see the sports section, you can now go on the internet, click onto this link, and there will be another link to the highlights of the USA Today sports page. Amazing yah? Anything and everything a computer whiz can think of is getting the easier way out, faster, cheaper, and on the computer.

Alan Furukawa's Homepage (G2)

Alan Furukawa's Homepage was the last homepage that I explored for this report, but let me tell you, his reports have some strong impact on a person to becoming a better person, along with being a Traffic Psychologist. When I looked into Alan's topical index page, I clicked onto this report title called, Resolving The Conflicts Within Ourselves which had some steps to becoming a better person. In this paragraph he mentioned what life is all about, and how wonderful life can be if we all treated ourselves with love and compasion, and honesty. Very deep stuff to think about when resolving personal problems, and problems one may face when they come across wreckless drivers in traffic.

Conclusion...

All in all, I have experienced a lot during my travels through Generation One and Generation Two. Traveling throughout netscape and cyberspace, I was able to learn more about this new computer technology stuffs. Even though it seemed, and I must admit, still is very difficult to understand and comprehend, I am enjoying this new journey through cyberspace. I am not a genius at all this computer junk, but I will learn to get the hang of all this. Just clicking onto Generation One and Generation Two's Homepages, I was able to relate to what they have gone through in the beginning themselves. As they all say, we all make mistakes, but we learn from them, and practice will make perfect. One more thing I would like to add on to this conclusion, is that between the two generations, I was able to detect the difference in their creativity. What I mean, is that it seems throughout each generations, the next generations are learning more and more to make their homepages as beautiful as they are becoming.
