MY
TRAVELS THROUGH G1 AND
G2

Generation One
I visited Claudia
Kaneshiro's Home Page. This page
had a simple appearance. It had a plain background and small fonts.
There were no images, and her page expressed a boring mood and tone. Her
style was simple and I noticed that Generation One has only a home page
and no database. In her week four assignment she says she had problems
with the internet, but she kept an open mind and was positive. I agree
with this belief, because I was in the same boat, yet I kept a positive
perspective on things. She knows the internet can be applied to the
outside world, which is true. The internet is becoming the wave of the
future in communications, and very popular. I could relate to Claudia,
because she was in the same boat I was during the first few weeks of the
semester. Claudia was lost and confused during the first few weeks, and
I could relate to that. She found the internet to be less intimidating
and challenging as she practiced more. I agree with this, because when I
first started, I was very intimidated because the internet was a whole
new concept to me. Claudia says that the internet became more
understandable through practice. Actually this is true towards almost
anything in life. I enjoyed her discussion on the Dr. Jekyl and Mr. Hyde
syndrome, where a person totally changes behind the wheel of a car. I
believe this is true for almost anybody, I know it is for me. I can be a
terrible Mr. Hyde behind the wheel.
I visited Kendall Matsuyoshi's Home Page. Kendall's page
had a simple appearance with small fonts. His page expressed a boring
mood and tone. His style was plain and simple with no images. Kendall
says that you can get a lot of ideas from other people's home pages.
This is true, because if it wasn't for other people's home pages, my home
page would not exist. I wonder who invented the first home page? Who
was the Adam and Eve of home pages on the internet? I agree with Kendall
that patience is the key, because with out patience I think everyone who
uses a computer would go completely bananas.
I visited Josephine
Allen's Home Page. Josephine
had a nice and inviting background. I was impressed by her page,
considering she was a generation one student. Her reports were hard to
read because of the small print against the background. I finally gave
up reading her reports after a while because it was so hard to read. I
saw that generation one had different requirements than us, especially on
the placement of our files. I don't like the heading of her home page,
"Home Page of Josephine Allen Disciple of Jesus Christ." I'm not
prejudice against Christians, because I went to a Baptist school and
attended church, but it might scare some people off. Some people don't
want to hear about church and God, thus making her lose a lot of
visitors. I was intrigued with her student awards link, which
categorized her peers according to their accomplishments. Her weekly
assignments were in instruction form, and it was hard to follow. There
was no annotations for her links which made it difficult to know what
each link was for.
Generation Two
I thought Cynthia
Yap's Home Page was amazing. It
contained a lot of interesting and fun facts, and I enjoyed browsing
through the various pictures and links. Her page was very informative,
and it caught my eye. The images were facinating, and the page had an
interesting heading, so go visit it and see what it is. The pages and
files were neat and organized. The page expressed a happy, fun tone and
mood. The Walt Disney World Home Page appealed to my happy and fun
emotions. The Hawaiian Electric Company Electric Kitchen Page appealed
to my stomach with all of the delicious recipes. The Hawaii Visitors
Beaureu Page made me feel mellow and tranquil, because it linked me to
various paradise spots across the island. This home page had a lot of
style, and very attractive fonts and graphics. It makes the visitor want
to visit longer and visit again. I was impressed that the Hawaii
Visitors Beaureu Page was also in Japanese and contained a contest. This
was my favorite page of Generation Two Psychology, because it contained a
lot of informative facts about interesting topics like Disney, Hawaii,
and recipes.
I visited Jason
Nakasato's Home Page. Jason had a
nice and inviting background. The page expressed an inviting, tranquil
mood and tone. His style was neat and classy. Jason says that it
depends on who you are driving with that determines your mood. This is
true for me, because if you have good company, then it makes the ride and
drive more pleasant. Thus, good company keeps the driver's mind occupied
on something else besides traffic. He says that in order not to speed, a
person has to be prepared. However, this is hard to do. I believe
everyone wants to be prepared, but it is hard to do because of laziness
or emergencies, etc. Whatever the case, a person should not speed anyway.
I visited Nancee
Aki's Home Page. Nancee's page
was simple, but it had an image that took a long time to load on her home
page. Her page was attractive and expressed a mysterious tone and mood.
Her style was modern-like, because of the images of space and the
universe. Nancee says that music calms her down while driving. This is
true for me, but for me to calm down I would have to sing along.
Somehow, music and singing always relaxs me. Maybe this is why almost
every car comes standard with a radio. She says that by being nice to
other drivers on the road, they will be nice to you. I believe it is
more on how much a person takes in on the road, because if you are in a
good mood then someone cutting you off doesn't seem as bad to someone who
is in a rotten mood.
I noticed that there is a considerable difference between the G1
and G2 sites. It seems that with every generation the pages become more
advanced and impressive. I am impressed with G1, because they had to
start from stratch. I am curious to see how the pages of G100 will turn
out.
