What is the Driving Personality Makeover
Two teenagers died this weekend, after a car crash in Hawaii Kai.
The teenagers
were passengers of a car driven by another teenager. The driver of the
car was not
intoxicated. The driver was speeding and talking with his friend. The
accident was a
really bad accident. The driver should not have been speeding. The
driver of the car
forgot the strength of the car. His bad habits as a driver got his
friends killed. A Driving Personality
Makeover is designed
to eliminate a negative behavior that occurs while driving. People who
drive may seem
like they have spilt personalities while they drive. They may be one way
one day and very
different another day. The driver can be the sweetest nicest person but
once they are
behind the wheel they are loud, rude and terrible. Also there are other
behaviors or habits
that people feel that bad when they are driving.
According to Bruce
Nakada from G3, speed is a bad habit that should be controlled.
Everyone speeds. Well, mostly everyone speeds. What is speeding you
ask? According to Audy from
G3, "speeding is exceeding the posted speed limit." This Driving
Personality
Makeover was created for everyone that drives. Can you honestly say
that you have never
gotten mad or upset while driving? Everyone has gotten mad while
driving. Can you say
that you never speed? One mile over the speed limit is speeding.
There are many reasons why people speed. According to Berna Collado of
Genereation 2, she
feels that she is "pressured" to speed. People that are tailing you tend
to cause you to speed. You want to get out of their way so you drive
faster. There are many other reasons why people speed. People speed
because for the adrenaline rush that get out of it.
This makeover was designed to help you get rid of the negative behaviors
that arise while driving. I agree that everyone should do this
makeover. It may be better for everyone. There may be less
accidents. We should do this makeover because people abuse cars and
they take the strength of the car for granted. I would take this
makeover because I speed a lot and I tend to forget that the car is not
a toy. I am a terrible driver. I race, tail people, and I cut
people off on the freeway. I am so lucky that I did not get into
accident.

Creating a Driving Personality Makeover
To create the Driving Personality Makeover, you choose a negative
behavior that
you would like to observe, take notes and try to think of a way to make
that change. The
principle steps to follow is :
1) Think of a negative behavior that you would like to change.
2) Test your negative behavior and make observations.
3) Try to change the behavior that you want.
4) Think of a plan that will help you change the behavior.
There are two major stages to the Driving Personality Makeover.
According to Dr.
James stage one is becoming a reformed driver. The second stage is
becoming a facilitative driver.
Application to Psychology
The Driving Personality Makeover can be applied to psychology because
it looks at
self-witnessing. Self-witnessing is taking a look at yourself
objectively. The
Driving Personality Makeover requires you to look at your driving
habits objectively.
You need to look at the way you drive and try to look at all the bad
habits that you do.
Then you need to try to change the bad driving habits.
Self-witnessing is important to
the Driving Personality Makeover because you could analysize what your
thoughts are when
they came up. When those thoughts arise you can analysize them and
figure out what made you
feel that way.
Getting the Information about the Driving Personality Makeover
I think the other generations did a good job on their description of
the Driving
Personality Makeover. I feel that with the information that I gathered.
I would be able to
make a Personality Makeover that could enhance my driving. I think that
I would show a
lot of resistance to the Makeover plan. Resistance, according to I
think that a lot of people would show resistance
to the Makeover plan. A lot of people that I know think that they are
the best drivers in
the world. All my friends that race their cars from Campbell industrial
Park to town on
Saturday nights think they are Indy 500 racers. They feel that they are
the best on the
island. They haven't crashed their cars or lost a race yet. I agree
that when they are
racing they are good drivers. But when they are driving they are
terrible drivers. They are
careful that they do not cause an accident but they are very uncool
drivers. They do not
know how to drive and be courteous to their fellow drivers. They would
never try to
attempt the Driving Personality Makeover.
Evaluation
The Generational Curriculum, what is that? This is a question that I
would have
asked anyone about a week ago. I knew nothing of this program. I did
not know what
the Internet was. I think that this program is good because you learn
as you go on. I
think that reading the experiences of the other generations is a good
idea. It tells us what
to expect and that we are not alone. There were other people out there
that is struggling
just as much as we are. Reading the other generation's papers is like
encouragement to
the future generation. There are advantages and disadvantages to this
type of teaching.
The advantages is the experience in computers and finding other people's
research. The
disadvantage would be some students may not have computers and will have
harder times
trying to do the assignment. I think that this is a good way to have
high school students
learn how to use computers. It is unfortunate that the high schools may
not have the
computers for the students to learn on. This type of teaching can be
considered the group
learning type. The students will sit at the computers and if they do
not understand they
may ask their friends to help them. This may teach the students to
learn to work together.
I think that this is a great way to get the students involved in the
computers. If they know
that their friends are there to help them, they may not be as afraid to
use the computers. I
know I was afraid to use the computers. In the future, the generational
curriculum may be
a lot bigger. I think the computer people will find a way that you will
be able to link up to
other schools. The schools on the mainland may be accessible to Hawaii
people. I do not
know much about computers so I do not know what else changes could be
done to the
generational curriculum. I was amazed with the Internet. I am amazed
with all the
information that you can obtain from the computers.
